Children's Room Programs

Start your child's unique learning adventures in our Children's Room.  Journey through the exciting stages of early childhood development in a flexible and welcoming environment and be completely ready to enter the formal education system.

Our Philosophy

  • To provide an environment that is secure, safe, friendly and stimulating
  • To create a positive learning environment which provides the foundation for children to work towards the five learning outcomes, focusing on identity, community, wellbeing, learning and communication
  • To keep our costs as low as possible for our community
  • We ensure that the children are given time and opportunities to manipulate , explore, discover, problem solve, acquire and practice skills
  • To encourage interactions which will promote learning, caring relationships and positive self-concept
  • To provide opportunities for children to make choices and take control of their own learning
  • To provide experience that will enhance and develop personal and interpersonal skills, play skills and cooperative peer interactions and enable the children to participate as a member of a group
  • We recognise and value each child’s individuality, family and cultural background and welcome all
  • We acknowledge the importance of family input, participation and communication and we view the children, parents and staff as partners in creating a positive learning journey for each child.

Playgroup

Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre has worked hard to provide a venue that is community focussed, friendly, supportive, secure and stimulating to run our playgroups.

Social
For parents and carers with children aged up to 5 years, the resources of our children's room provide a wonderful opportunity for development and socialising.

Activities
Our facilitator sets up activities ready for you and your children to enjoy. Children require a snack, drink and suitable clothing for messy activities and outdoor play.

Play
Playgroups are a great beginning for your child to learn through play and an opportunity for you to meet other parents from the community. It also familiarises the children with our children's room which eases the anxiety for when it's time for Occasional Care or 3 Year Old Kinder.

Inside and Outside
Catering for multiple ages allows siblings to enrol in the same sessions. Our exciting new outdoor area provides opportunity for exploration and discovery in an engaging space with progressive challenges.

Occasional Care

Do you need a few hours
- to go shopping...alone?
- to get some housework done without a tornado following behind you?
- to spend some uninterrupted time studying or working?
- to meet a friend for coffee?
- or to just relax with a book or your latest Netflix addiction?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, Occasional Care is for you and your child!

Occasional Care is an alternative to long-day-care centres and has the warm, caring atmosphere of family daycare with a team of qualified and experienced staff providing a wide range of activities for your child in a purpose-built space.

Our Occasional Care program is an introduction to Early Learning for children aged between 18 months and 5 years. Care can be permanent or casual. With a maximum of 21 places, individual attention and flexibility is prioritised and siblings are able to be together in the same session.

Occasional Care is often the first time parents leave their children with people other than family. Our staff are mindful and experienced with strategies for separation anxiety and helping both parents and children with the transition.

3-Year-Old Program

The Three Year Old program at Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Centre is a popular and loved community service proudly growing and evolving with support of our community since 2007.

Our qualified and experienced team of caring and professional staff are dedicated to delivering a high quality service for the community. Our kindergarten teacher plans a program that creates a positive learning journey for each child. Positive outcomes of Identity, Community, Wellbeing, Learning and Communication are sought using the Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

The children in our sessions also benefit from our popular Auslan program which was introduced in 2013. The staff and children are using Australian sign language throughout the year including learning how to sign colors, animals, weather and simple phrases.

You may enrol your child at any time, for commencement when they turn three. We do not charge any central enrolment fees or have zoning preferences. A $50 non-refundable deposit to secure your place is taken in September and then deducted from your first term fees.
